The Arizona National Guard is an organization of volunteers dedicated to protecting and defending the interests of our community, state, and our nation. Our motto is “Always Ready…Always There.”

Arizona's Adjutant General serves as the director of the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, a State agency combining Arizona's Army and Air National Guard with Joint Military Programs and Emergency Management. This combined effort enables Arizona to have effective and immediate response to emergencies on a Federal, State and Community level.

The National Guard is uniquely organized under the constitution and federal statutes. The Guard and Reserves are equally accessible under federal mobilization and can be called-up for operations, national emergencies, or war...but only the National Guard can be called-up by the individual states. Unless called to active federal service, the Guard is under the command of the Governor, through the direction of the Adjutant General, Major General Hugo E Salazar. When called to federal service the President of the United States is commander in chief.

Over 600 Arizona Army and Air National Guard men and women are still serving on federal active duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and within the continental U.S. Over 7,000 have been called to federal active service since Sept 11, 2001.

More than 6,000 Arizona Army National Guard and Air National Guard soldiers and airmen have answered the call and been ordered to federal active duty in support of Operation's Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom since September 11, 2001.

Located in the Joint Force Headquarters in Phoenix, the Arizona Air National Guard is comprised of four major elements. The Air staff provides overall direction, coordination, and support to all Air National Guard units in the State. The 162nd Fighter Wing is located at Tucson International Airport, and conducts International Pilot Training. The 161st Air Refueling Wing is located at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix and provides aerial refueling in support of global taskings. The 107th Air Control Squadron is located at Luke Air Force Base and provides training for Air Force weapons directors. The 214th Reconnaissance Group is located at Davis-Monthan AFB, in Tucson and supports Combatant
Commander requirements for surveillance.

The Arizona Air National Guard is collocated and totally integrated with the office of the Adjutant General, the Arizona Army Guard and the Arizona Department of Emergency Management. The joint integration structure contributes to the successful execution of both State and Federal missions.

We're proud to serve those who serve our country.

If you're in the military, we know your rigorous lifestyle can make going back to school a challenge. Fortunately, our learning model makes education possible while you're on active duty, no matter where you are. And whatever your plans are after the military, a degree can be an invaluable asset.

Military benefits:

Servicemembers and veterans make up a significant portion of our student body, so we're particularly sensitive to the needs of you and your colleagues. University of Phoenix was recently named one of the country's top 20 colleges and universities favorable to military personnel by Military Advanced Education. We received this Top-20 distinction by setting the standard for military-friendly policies.

Support for Military Students

In addition to our extensive academic repertoire, we also offer you a special military tuition rate .

Even though completing a degree is difficult while on tour, you'll receive student support and services throughout your schooling. We understand your challenges, and from enrollment to graduation, we're here to help you every step of the way.

Welcome to Fort Huachuca, home of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)/9th Army Signal Command. Located in Cochise County, in southeast Arizona, about 15 miles north of the border with Mexico, Fort Huachuca was annexed in 1971 by the city of Sierra Vista and was declared a national landmark in 1976.

Fort Huachuca is also the headquarters of Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) and the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG).

Libby Army Airfield is located on post and shares the runway with Sierra Vista Municipal Airport; it is on the list of alternate landing locations for the space shuttle, though it has never been used as such.
